Zhang Shaoyang, born in 1971, is a native of Linzhou. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Anyang Teachers College and currently works at the Workers’ Cultural Palace of Puyang City.
He currently holds the following positions:
Member of the Puyang Municipal Artists Association;
Member of the Puyang Municipal Calligraphers Association.
He has long been engaged in mass cultural and fine arts publicity work within the trade union system. His calligraphy and painting works have been exhibited and awarded in various municipal and extramural events. His calligraphy piece won an Excellence Award in the National Calligraphy and Painting Competition “Ode to the Motherland · Emotion of the Times · Grandeur of Mountains and Rivers,” celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. His artworks have also participated in cultural exchange activities in provinces and cities such as Guangxi and Jilin, and have been collected by multiple institutions.
In recent years, he has actively organized and participated in large-scale cultural events for city employees, including organizing the Puyang City Workers’ Calligraphy, Painting, and Photography Exhibition four consecutive times, as well as organizing essay contests such as “My Labor Diary” and “My Pandemic Diary.” He has also organized charity events such as Spring Festival couplet writing by worker-calligraphers and calligraphy gatherings, and coordinated the “May Day Academy” public course training series. These activities have received high praise from relevant municipal departments and the public.
Comrade Shaoyang has a tranquil disposition and an easygoing personality. In his spare time, he persists in practicing calligraphy and painting, immersing himself in the world of art, continuously exploring and pursuing his artistic path—like wildflowers of the Taihang Mountains: natural, pure, fragrant, and unpretentious.
