Personal Profile

He Wenrui, a native of Huixian City, Henan Province, was honored in 2012 by our city as an outstanding professional and technical talent. He graduated from the Landscape Sketching Intensive Class of the China International Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute at Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts. His landscape paintings trace their roots back to the masters of the Song and Yuan dynasties, while also drawing inspiration from various schools of the Ming and Qing periods, assimilating their essence and innovating with fresh perspectives, thus forming an artistic style characterized by grandeur, elegance, freshness, and refinement. Currently, he serves as Director of the China National Painters Association; Member of the Henan Provincial Artists Association; Visiting Professor at Zhongyuan Academy of Fine Arts; Committee Member of the YU-WAN Qing National Painting Professional Committee; Academician of the Great Wall Calligraphy and Painting Academy; Researcher at Zhongyuan Academy of Painting; Professional Painter; and Invited Painter of the Taihang Mountain Academy of Painting.
His ink painting “Autumn Mountains and Ancient Paths” was selected for inclusion in the Contemporary Chinese Celebrities and Masters Calligraphy and Painting Collection in 2004; “Taihang Serenity” was selected for the 3rd Henan Provincial Chinese Painting Art Exhibition; “Hometown Sentiments” won the Silver Award at the 9th "Zhonghua Cup" and "3rd China Painting and Calligraphy Shenzhen Forum" National Art Exhibition; “Taihang Homestead” was selected for the 4th Henan Provincial Chinese Painting Art Exhibition; “Clear Melody” was selected for the 3rd Henan Provincial Landscape Painting Art Exhibition; “Clouds Drifting over My Hometown” was selected for the 6th Henan Provincial Chinese Painting Art Exhibition; “Cool Shade of Mossy Paths by Mountain Springs” was included in the CCTV Calligraphy and Painting Collection and acquired by CCTV; “Green Mist over Streams and Mountains” received an Excellence Award at the Invitational Exhibition of Renowned Domestic and Overseas Calligraphers and Painters; “Prosperous Homesteads at the Foot of Taihang Mountains” was selected for the National Painting and Calligraphy Competition in Baofeng, China. Works such as “Autumn Light Surpasses Spring,” “Clear Autumn,” and “Peach Blossom Bay” were published in the “Danqing: Masters of Painting and Calligraphy” column of the second issue of China’s Harmonious Voice. The article “Broad-minded and Majestic: A Brief Analysis of He Wenrui’s Landscape Paintings” was included in the 2012 publication “Pride of the Republic.” In 2014, he created the monumental ink painting “Soul of Taihang Mountains” for the Shenzhou Technology Hall. Works including “Drunken Evening in Frosty Forests,” “Clear Melodies Singing Through Four Seasons,” “Spring Bathing Taihang,” and “Fragrant Ancient Village” were adopted by China International Postage and published as telephone cards, stamps, and postcards. Numerous other works have been collected by domestic and international friends.
