Hu Shufeng
He is currently a member of the Chinese Calligraphy Society, a member of the Chinese Large-Character Calligraphy Committee, a member of the Henan Provincial Calligraphers Association, a council member of the Central Plains Calligraphers and Painters Association, and Vice President of the Luoyang Yibo Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Since childhood, influenced by his family’s cultural environment, Mr. Hu developed a deep passion for calligraphy. He has studied the brushwork and scripts of numerous renowned calligraphers. Decades of diligent practice have endowed him with comprehensive and solid traditional foundations. Drawing inspiration from ancient masters’ ink traces, his brushstrokes flow naturally and smoothly; his character structures are precise and rigorous; his strokes are clear, vigorous, and robust; his compositional weight varies appropriately, with primary and secondary elements harmoniously balanced. His works are upright and substantial yet retain a sense of liveliness, elegant and refined while remaining accessible to all audiences, exhibiting distinctive personal characteristics and demonstrating profound brushwork skills and excellent humanistic cultivation.
Mr. Hu has participated in numerous major domestic and international calligraphy exhibitions and received awards: In 2014, he won the Gold Prize in the Huaxia Cup National Calligraphy Competition; in 2015, he received First Prize in the Great Wall Cup Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, and his work was collected by the organizing committee. His calligraphy has long been collected by numerous museums, art galleries, collectors, and friends both domestically and internationally.Mr. Hu is also devoted to public welfare. In 2016, he donated all proceeds from a calligraphy and painting auction to the Youth Foundation and was awarded the title of “Caring Calligrapher.”
