Personal Profile

Yang Yihai, male, artistic name: Haiyang; native of Henan Guangshan. Served 25 years in the military at regimental level, and after demobilization, assumed the position of Party Secretary at a Zhengzhou municipal government unit. Member of the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, member of the CETV Ink and Wash Calligraphy and Painting Academy, member of the Henan Calligraphers Association, member of the Zhengzhou Calligraphers Association, and member of the Henan Zhongyuan Feng Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute. Artistic Growth and Achievements: Proficient in running regular script, running script, and semi-cursive script calligraphy. Passionate about calligraphy since childhood, began attempting to write Spring Festival couplets at age 5; received calligraphy instruction from Mr. Song Huaping, former vice-chairman of the China Calligraphers Association; participated in brush calligraphy training organized by the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association; long-term practice copying handscrolls by Wang Xizhi, Mi Fu, Zhao Mengfu, and Sun Xiaoyun. In recent years, won the Second Prize in the Ninth National Xizhi Cup Calligraphy Competition (awarded at the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Hall), First Prize at the National Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Creators Annual Conference (awarded in Sanya), and the CETV Calligraphy Heritage Award (Chongqing award ceremony). Officially recognized by the State Gift Artist website as a leading figure in contemporary calligraphy art; received by leaders including Zhang Huaqing, Chairman of the China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, Vice Chairman Li Bing, and Chairman of the Central Government Organs Calligraphers Association at the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Hall. Calligraphy works exhibited on the State Gift Artist official website, CETV Ink and Wash official website, and at the Zhengzhou Museum in Henan provincial capital. Works collected by renowned poet Zhang Yuexia and other celebrities, and included in the "Complete Collection of Chinese Calligraphy" published by China Overseas Chinese Publishing House. Artistic Activities: Invited to participate in the 2021 Spring Festival Calligraphy and Painting Gala of China Education Television, and exchanged with multiple artists and celebrities including Zhao Baole, Yu Yuexian, Tian Boping, and Wulan Tuoya. Participated in calligraphy exchange activities between Henan Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Japan’s Mie Prefecture. Frequently participated in cultural events organized by provincial, municipal, and folk art groups, as well as spiritual civilization-building activities of government agencies and public institutions, receiving favorable reviews. His works have been mounted and displayed to beautify cultural environments and foster traditional cultural atmospheres. Cultural Heritage: Diligently practices General Secretary Xi Jinping’s requirement of “cultural confidence,” persistently serving grassroots and the public. Frequently disseminates traditional calligraphy art during Party lectures, actively promotes traditional culture, strives to strengthen cultural confidence, and endeavors to be a successor and “relay runner” of traditional Chinese culture, firmly establishing and reinforcing the foundation of the “Soul of the Chinese Nation!” Others: Enjoys literature; essay “Waiting” won third prize from the highest Air Force academic institution; “Reading Accompanies My Growth” won first prize in the “Read More, Read Better” essay contest organized by Zhengzhou Municipal Committee.
