Personal Profile
     Chen Yuguang was born into an official and scholarly family. His uncle, Chen Qi, served as the head of the Chinese delegation at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, where China won over two thousand medals, creating a sensation in the United States. His father, Chen Ying, was a private tutor to General Zhang Xueliang of the Northeastern Army, teaching German and military studies. Both elders possessed profound attainments in calligraphy. The family owned a rich collection of stone rubbings and calligraphic models, which Chen studied and copied from childhood, laying a solid foundation in calligraphy. After going abroad, he became occupied with business but still practiced calligraphy occasionally.After retirement, he devoted himself fully to calligraphy and has made rapid progress over the past decade.Through numerous domestic and international calligraphy exhibitions and competitions, he has repeatedly won outstanding awards and earned high recognition from peers in the art community.     

      In 2004, his work was exhibited in the "8th Zhonghua Bulao City Taodu Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition for Seniors" and received an excellence award; the piece was collected by the Yixing Municipal People's Government.
In 2007, five of his works were compiled and published in the series "Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting" by the China Calligraphy Research Institute. In 2007, his work was exhibited in the "International Exhibition of Master Calligraphers and Painters Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to China" and selected for inclusion in the exhibition catalog. In 2009, he participated in an international Buddhist scripture copying tour organized by the Federation of Literature and Art of Henan Province, writing the Diamond Sutra in Baima Temple, and the work was collected by the local Teachers College. In 2010, his work was exhibited in the "Sentimental Ties to China Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition," jointly hosted by the Central State Organs Calligraphy Association, the China Audit Calligraphy Association, and Huaqiao Academy, and was collected by the Central Calligraphy and Painting Association. In 2010, he participated in the "5th Overseas Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Grand Exhibition in Europe," winning the Orchid Pavilion Silver Award. In 2010, his work was exhibited in the "Ties to the Motherland—Beidaihe Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Europe" and collected by Qinhuangdao Longteng Academy. In 2012, his work was included in the "Oriental Ink Dance—4th Beijing International Calligraphy Biennale: Invitation Exhibition of International Masters' Fine Works," and collected by the Beijing Calligraphy Academy. In 2012, his work was exhibited in the "Year of the Dragon International Dragon Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition," displayed in both Guangzhou and Indonesia, and collected by the China Calligraphy and Painting Culture Center. In 2013, he won a prize of 8,000 yuan at the "Brush and Ink of the East—2013 China Calligraphy Art International Exhibition," co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, and the National Commission of UNESCO, and his work was compiled into the "Brush and Ink of the East" calligraphy anthology. In 2014, his work was exhibited in the "China-France Diplomatic Relations 40th Anniversary: Chinese Dream—Paris Louvre International Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition," receiving the Cultural Ambassador Honor Award, with his artwork touring various European countries. In 2015, he participated in the "Xinghuacun International Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" in Anhui Province, ranking seventh, and his work was compiled into the exhibition catalog and collected by Xinghuacun Calligraphy and Painting Academy.        Chinese calligraphy carries the essence of traditional Chinese culture, encompassing the artist’s life experiences, practical wisdom, and spiritual insights—it has never been an isolated art form.The world of calligraphic art is vast and boundless, filled with endless hardship and joy.In a certain sense, every calligrapher is simultaneously a scholar or thinker. Mr. Chen Yuguanghas always maintained an authentic emotional devotion, and will continue advancing steadily on his path of cultivation through Chinese calligraphy.
