Personal Profile
Zhang Changchun, from Huanan, Heilongjiang Province, uses the pen name Bingxin and is known as the master of Chungui Tang. Since childhood, he has had a deep passion for calligraphy art, and for decades, he has regarded calligraphy as a great source of joy and a cherished hobby in his spiritual life. Over the years, he has persistently practiced the masterpieces of renowned calligraphers throughout history, including Yan Zhenqing, Wang Xizhi, Sun Guoting, Wen Zhengming, and Huai Su. While diligently absorbing the essence of these ancient masters, he frequently visits and participates in domestic and international calligraphy exhibitions to learn their finest techniques. His calligraphic style never seeks strangeness or eccentricity; instead, it embraces the natural beauty and spontaneity of expression—writing with discipline and living with integrity. Zhang Changchun is passionate about both calligraphy and seal carving. He excels in regular script, running script, cursive script, and clerical script, making him a rare powerhouse calligrapher proficient in five scripts. His distinctive style features the use of long-hair goat-hair brushes, emphasizing inheritance and innovation, softness infused with strength, dynamic variations, and expressive forms achieved through transformation. His regular script draws heavily from the style of the Sage of Calligraphy, Yan Zhenqing, demonstrating profound traditional foundation, elegant and perfectly structured characters, and adherence to classical models without being bound by them. Building upon his mastery of various scripts, he independently invented the unique "One Stroke Double Outline" calligraphy technique, completing one or multiple characters in a single continuous stroke—bold yet ancient in character, refined and rich in depth, forming an unmistakable personal style that stands as a true masterpiece, deeply intriguing and enduringly appealing. His works have won awards in numerous military and civilian calligraphy exhibitions. His "One Stroke Double Outline" calligraphy has been featured in special reports by China Central Television and Liaoning Television.
