Personal Profile
 Xu Enpu, born in 1977 in Pingshan County, Hebei Province, holds a bachelor's degree and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He is a member of the Hebei Artists Association, a member of the Chengde Calligraphers Association, and a council member of the Hebei Painting and Calligraphy Art Research Association. He is a disciple of the renowned calligrapher Xiong Jiquan. He once served in a unit of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force and currently resides in Shijiazhuang, working at the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University.  He has had broad interests since childhood and a deep passion for painting. Growing up in a rural area with limited financial resources, he initially could only use stationery pens to copy heroic figures from picture-story books on the blank sides of used exercise books. In middle school, he began formally studying Western-style painting under professional instruction. In 1992, influenced by a fellow townsman, he started learning traditional Chinese meticulous (gongbi) bird-and-flower painting. During his military service, he primarily worked in cultural and publicity roles, and participated multiple times in film culture and news reporting training programs jointly organized by the military and local authorities. During this period, he published over 200 articles and photo submissions in national, provincial, and municipal newspapers and journals. Three of his paintings won awards in military-organized professional competitions and exhibitions, and two works received awards in joint military-civilian exhibitions.
       On January 20, 1999, the fourth page of "Rehe Evening News" featured an article titled "A Talented Young Man in the Frontier Police Camp";
       Issue 4 of 1999’s "Film Education" magazine (pages 16–17) carried an article titled "A Person Willing to Be a Cornerstone of a Great Building";
       On November 16, 2007, the eighth page of "Dazhong Reading News" dedicated a full-page feature, and in May 2008, the "Hebei Painters" section of the Shijiazhuang News Network’s artwork channel,
       followed by the cultural section of the June 13, 2008 issue of "Hebei Daily," successively published reports highlighting his artistic talents and outstanding achievements.
For over 20 years, Xu Enpu has made full use of his spare time to devote himself to the study, research, and creation of gongbi bird-and-flower painting. Learning from both ancient and contemporary masters, he has meticulously copied numerous masterpieces, carefully analyzing their underlying artistic principles and techniques. Adhering to the approach of “preserving what is excellent, improving what is inadequate, adopting what is superb, and integrating compatible methods from various schools,” he has widely absorbed inspiration and gradually moved beyond rigid, mechanical copying. He has continuously incorporated his own artistic concepts and expressive techniques, boldly borrowing certain Western artistic treatment methods, striving to achieve harmony and unity in his compositions, and gradually forging his own unique creative path. His works are primarily executed in double-outlined line drawing and fine detailed coloring, characterized by rigorous and delicate style, clear layering, elegant beauty, and distinctive personal expression.
