       Tang Yucai, male, was born on May 20, 1953, with ancestral roots in Qingyuan County, Province. He graduated from Qingjiang Communist University in in 1970 and, after retiring in 2003, served as a member of the Jiangxi Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Association.      Since childhood, Tang Yucai has been passionate about Chinese calligraphy and painting art. He studied regular script and running script under masters such as Yan Zhenqing, the Two Wangs, Mi Fu, and Sha Menghai, while focusing his seal script studies on Han dynasty steles including the Shimen Song, Zhang Qian Stele, and Hengfang Stele. His painting journey began in the late 1980s, primarily inspired by Qi Baishi’s flower-and-bird paintings, and he has also drawn substantial inspiration from renowned works by Wu Zuoren, Xu Beihong, Wu Changshuo, and Huo Chunyang. His works have been repeatedly selected for major calligraphy and painting exhibitions.      Over more than thirty years of painting practice, Tang Yucai has devoted the most thought and effort to depicting Qi Baishi’s shrimp. Through diligence and deep reflection, he has not only inherited the traditional Chinese artistic heritage and Qi Pai’s distinctive techniques but also modernized their expression, earning widespread acclaim from experts and the public alike.      The feature interview on Tang Yucai, part of Jiangxi TV Channel 6’s “Art & Collection” series, was broadcast on February 19, 2017, at 22:12.
