Liu Fengming, from Tangshan, Hebei, was born in 1966 and has been passionate about painting and calligraphy since childhood. He studied under Zhao Shanjun, a member of the Hebei Artists Association and a master of traditional Chinese painting. In 1985, he joined the military and apprenticed under several military painters and calligraphers. During his service, he worked in artistic propaganda and won more than twenty awards in various military-sponsored painting and calligraphy competitions. After his discharge in 1990, he worked in home decoration design. Since 2003, he has been employed at Tangshan Asia Time Ceramics Co., Ltd., during which time he has received guidance from Mr. Li Jianping, Deputy Secretary-General of the Design Committee of the China Ceramic Association and a renowned painter, as well as many other masters. In recent years, he has focused primarily on calligraphy, especially favoring clerical, seal, and Ouyang-style regular script, while also studying running and cursive scripts, practicing daily without fail. His calligraphy works have been collected by numerous art enthusiasts and friends from all walks of life. Several of his works have been included in commemorative stamp collections for the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong handover, the World Stamp Limited Edition Collectors’ Treasury, and other such publications. In 2017, he was named an Influential Art Ambassador on China’s Good Brand List. His clerical script works “The Humble Abode” and “Eternal Chinese Spirit” have been engraved on the New Great Wall of China.
