Personal Profile

Liu Dahai, originally named Liu Hongru, also known as Mogeng, is from Cangzhou, Hebei. He graduated from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and later pursued further studies at Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts. He is currently a member of the Hebei Artists Association, a National First-Class Artist, and a council member of the China International Society for Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exchange. Mr. Liu's paintings appear casual but are in fact expressions of his innate nature—primitive in essence. He unifies the rawness of nature with the instinctive wildness through ink and brush, achieving a state of [harmony between heaven and humanity]. The serene, rustic, heavy, and weathered beauty of his ink tones resonates deeply with contemporary artistic sensibilities and spiritual expression, echoing his own composed, magnanimous, and resilient character. His works have been exhibited numerous times nationwide and have received unanimous acclaim from collectors both domestically and internationally.
