Personal Profile

Liu Zhongyang, courtesy name Yunfeng, was born in 1967 in Hengshui City, Hebei Province. He has been passionate about painting and calligraphy since childhood, and later studied Chinese painting under Jiang Zhiyi, a specially designated painter for the State Council.He is currently a council member of the Geleshan Painting and Calligraphy Academy in Chongqing, vice president of the Cangbai Painting and Calligraphy Academy in Banan District, Chongqing, a member of the Lao Gen Painting and Calligraphy Academy of Chongqing Television, a member of the Chongqing Association of Arts and Crafts, a master of Nei-hua (inner painting) from Hebei Province, a academician of the Huagang Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, and deputy dean of the Chongqing Academy of Chinese Painting.In 1989, he accidentally met his master Liu Zi Yi, a disciple of the inner painting master Wang Xisan, and began learning the art of inner painting. During his studies, he was greatly favored by his teacher, who frequently praised and encouraged him, enabling him to rapidly improve in inner painting.His works have been collected by international friends from the United States, Japan, Singapore, Canada, and other countries.In Liu Zhongyang’s brushwork, every blade of grass, every tree, every flower and leaf is rendered with bold freedom and unrestrained passion. His unwavering dedication to art and relentless creative spirit have brought him to where he is today—undoubtedly a leading contemporary master painter.
