Zhang Ziwan, pen name: Mingbao Zhai Zhu, was born in March 1955 in Nangong City, Hebei Province. He holds a postgraduate degree. He is an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of Hebei Province—the "Nangong Stele Script" calligraphy art. He is a member of the Hebei Branch of the China Calligraphers Association, a specially invited calligrapher and painter of the China Art Research Institute under the Ministry of Culture, a researcher at the China Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, a member of the Qingyun Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Fellowship in Beijing, Honorary Chairman of the Nangong Calligraphers Association, and Vice President of the Zhang Yuzhao Calligraphy School Fellowship. He graduated from Hubei Normal University and the Calligraphy Creation Postgraduate Program at Henan Academy. His clerical script was studied under Li Gangtian, his Nangong Stele Script under Dong Yuming, and his cursive script under Xie Deping. His running-regular script and cursive script possess unique styles. His works have been exhibited multiple times domestically and internationally; he won the second prize in the "Second Red Army Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Competition," and his works are collected by the Red Army Memorial Hall. He also received awards in the Zhang Yuzhao Calligraphy School International Invitational Exhibition jointly organized by the Hebei Calligraphers Association and the Beijing Calligraphers Association. Mr. Zhang Ziwan’s Nangong Stele Script calligraphy works are collected by countries including Thailand, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States. In 2013, he was awarded the title of "Top 500 Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Artists." His works have frequently sponsored social charity and public welfare activities and are collected by individuals and enterprises both domestically and internationally. In recent years, he has devoted himself to studying calligraphy creation, learning extensively from various schools, and infusing his own philosophical and cultural thinking into his works, earning high praise within the industry. Mr. Zhang Ziwan served as a member of the 8th, 9th, and 10th sessions of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of Xingtai City, a member of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th sessions of the CPPCC of Nangong City, and a deputy to the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th sessions of the People's Congress of Nangong City.
