Personal Profile

Huang Hongyan, artistic name Huang Wen, is an interior painting artist and a member of the Snuff Bottle Research Society of the China Arts and Crafts Society. Born in 1984 in Gaocheng, Shijiazhuang, she has loved art since childhood and began systematic training in fundamental painting skills during junior high school. In 2001, she was admitted with outstanding scores to the Art Department of Zhengding Normal School. In 2004, she successfully entered the College of Arts and Crafts at Hebei University for further studies. In 2008, she was fortunate to become an apprentice under Master Dong Xue, a renowned interior painting artist in China’s arts and crafts industry, dedicating herself to mastering the essence of interior painting. She specializes in portrait painting, employing bold brushwork and delicate, vivid depictions, deeply inspired by her teacher. On October 16, 2015, she participated in the apprenticeship ceremony of Master Wang Xisan’s personally taught disciples. In July 2016, she attended the founding conference of the Snuff Bottle Research Society of the China Arts and Crafts Society and the National Touring Exhibition of Chinese Snuff Bottle Art along the Silk Road (Xi’an Station), and is currently a member of the Snuff Bottle Research Society of the China Arts and Crafts Society. In May 2018, she participated in the Provincial Folk Culture Festival and performed interior painting demonstrations for leaders of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Department. On October 11, 2018, she participated in the Municipal Women’s Federation’s “Double Innovation and Double Service” Special Handicraft Competition and was awarded the title of “Clever Sister of the Provincial Capital.” On February 25, 2019, she hosted leaders from the National Women’s Handicraft Weaving Association, Hebei Provincial People’s Congress, CPPCC, and women’s federations at provincial, municipal, and district levels, presenting interior painting demonstrations for them. She has also long been engaged in passing down the intangible cultural heritage of interior-painted snuff bottles to primary and secondary school students.
