Wang La Zao, born in 1955, is a native of Dingzhou, originally from Youwei Village, and writes under the pen name Shitao. Since childhood, he has been passionate about calligraphy, beginning formal training under teacher Zhang Mengchun during elementary school. Later, he studied stele scripts including the Cao Quan Stele, Zhang Qian Stele, Liqi Stele, and Yying Stele under Beijing calligrapher Bai Liujun. He received high recognition from Liu Jin Kai, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and valuable guidance from calligrapher Zhao Heng. Currently, he serves as Director of the Dingzhou Calligraphers Association and President of the Dingzhou Wenbo Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
His worksfeature bold, powerful characters with strict structural discipline and brushstrokes that penetrate the paper, deeply cherished by the public.He won third prize in the National Small-Format Calligraphy Competition; his works have been exhibited in touring exhibitions across the province and have received multiple awards. His calligraphy is collected by domestic and international collectors.
