 Song Xiulin, born in 1972 in Quzhou County, Handan City, Hebei Province, into an ordinary peasant family, has loved calligraphy and singing since childhood. He graduated from Longtang Middle School in Quzhou County in 1987 with outstanding academic performance and was repeatedly honored as an "Outstanding Student." In 1994, he studied vocal music at the Hebei Provincial Quyi Troupe, and subsequently operated a private store. In recent two years, he fortuitously met teacher Feng Zengbo, whose personal guidance and instruction led him back onto the path of calligraphy. He has practiced copying works by renowned masters such as Yan Zhenqing, Huaisu, Su Shi, Mi Fu, Huang Shangu, Zhao Mengfu, and Wen Zhengming. His works are warmly welcomed in the market and collected by many calligraphy enthusiasts from all walks of society. In 2017, Song Xiulin’s calligraphy was selected for inclusion in the grand exhibition album "The Glorious China of the Belt and Road Initiative," jointly organized by the Tianjin People's Fine Arts Publishing House, the Ministry of Culture of China, and the National Art Museum Center of the China National Academy of Painting. He was also appointed as a Special Contributing Editor of the editorial committee for "The Glorious China of the Belt and Road Initiative." The album was presented to: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Library of China, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Publicity Department, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, the China Entrepreneur Club, the Sino-Foreign Joint Venture Exchange Center, specially delivered to Zhongnanhai, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the State Council Counselors’ Office, over thirty ministries and bureaus, the Central Party School, the National Academy of Governance, and the Jingxi Hotel, etc. Simultaneously, it was distributed nationwide and gifted to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and embassies along the Belt and Road route countries. In May 2019, he won the Bronze Award in the 7th National Chinese Dream Cup Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Competition and was conferred the honorary title of “Outstanding Artist for Calligraphy and Painting the Chinese Dream.” Meanwhile, his works were rigorously reviewed and selected by the national postal authority for inclusion in the large-scale documentary commemorative stamp album “Great Journey, the Rejuvenation of China,” and he was awarded the honorary title of “Practitioner of Chinese Cultural Revival.”
