Personal Profile
Xia Guangping, male, born in August 1956. Pen name: Ru Yinan; studio names: Hongyi Xuan, Ya’an Tang; native of Sanhe, eastern Beijing region.
Since childhood, influenced by his family’s artistic atmosphere, he developed a profound passion for calligraphy and painting, practicing diligently day after day for decades. Although he studied under renowned masters of various calligraphic styles nationwide, he humbly feels his mastery remains incomplete and thus hesitates to formally declare his teachers, fearing he might dishonor their reputations. He has copied numerous stele inscriptions and model scripts, drawing strengths from diverse sources. He especially excels in seal script, clerical script, and running script, developing a distinctive personal style—elegant without being overly ornate, calm without arrogance—deeply appreciated and collected by people from all walks of society. Many of his works in various scripts have been exhibited and awarded at national, provincial, and municipal levels.
