 Wang Weirong, styled Yucan, master of Shule Studio. Born in 1949 in Nangong, Hebei. Graduated from the Calligraphy Department of China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University. In his early years, he studied under the renowned calligrapher Mr. Yang Yutang, and later received guidance from Mr. Zhang Jie, President of China Calligraphy Research Institute, as well as Li Jing and Yang Guangxin, council members of China Calligraphers Association. Currently, he is a member of China Calligraphers Association and a National First-Class Calligrapher certified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He is also a member of China Huaxia Wanli Xing Calligraphers and Painters Association, an invited artist of Beijing Red Generals Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a painter of Hebei Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Vice President of Hebei Branch and President of Xingtai Branch of Hong Kong International Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association, and President of Northern Ancient Chu Bamboo Script Research Institute. He is a renowned Chu bamboo script calligrapher and Rong-style clerical script calligrapher. Since childhood, he has loved calligraphy, initially studying the styles of Yan, Liu, Ouyang, Zhao, and Wen Zhengming. For clerical script, he first copied various Han dynasty steles, particularly favoring Jin Nong’s lacquer script from the Qing dynasty. Over many years, he has deeply researched ancient Chu bamboo script, thoroughly grasping its essence and establishing his own distinctive style; his clerical script has developed into a unique form. His works have been included in: Famous Calligraphers and Painters at Home and Abroad (Collection of Masterpieces for the Celebration), commemorating the 65th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China; (China and Overseas) Pictorial’s national fine art exhibition commemorating the 120th anniversary of Mao Zedong’s birth. In 2014, he was invited to hold a solo exhibition in the United States and participated in a calligraphy and painting exchange exhibition in Korea. He was also invited to appear on CCTV Chinese Channel’s “Oriental Ink Charm” program. Since 2013, his works have been published in various newspapers and periodicals such as (Hebei Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting), (Yanzhao Cuisine), (Personnel Weekly), and (Contemporary Art Collection Guide). China Post has published multiple limited-edition stamp albums featuring his works. In 2019, Haiwai Net (People's Daily Online) published two of his academic papers. In 2020, CCTV Minsheng Net published (Calligraphy Legend). His calligraphy works have been widely collected by domestic and international leaders at provincial and ministerial levels, as well as by municipal enterprises. Representative works include the pioneering Chu bamboo script long scrolls: (One Hundred Filial Exemplars), (Thousand Character Classic); clerical script versions of (Three Character Classic), (Disciple Regulations), (Former and Latter Chu Shi Biao), and (Heart Sutra).
