Personal Profile
Wang Yang, female, styled Zizai, pseudonym Gewu, was born in 1993 in Hebei. From an early age, she received family education, excelling both in character and academics, gifted with intelligence and a refined aesthetic sense. She graduated early from the Art Department of Xingtai No. 8 Middle School, studying under renowned pen-and-ink artists Mr. Han Xiuqiang and Mr. Miao Zhaojun. She later graduated from the Art Decoration and Design program at Qinhuangdao Vocational and Technical College. During subsequent artistic studies, she had the fortune to meet Mr. Wang Weirong, a master of Chu bamboo-slip calligraphy, from whom she received guidance in philosophical concepts and aesthetics. Introduced by Mr. Wang, she became a disciple of Mr. Yao Weiguo, a Chinese ink painting master, frequently visiting him for instruction and becoming his personally taught student. She also studied under modern Chinese painter Mr. Li Qingzhou, renowned Chinese artist Mr. Shi Xueli, and contemporary painter Mr. Yuan Fuguo. Absorbing strengths from various schools, she gradually developed her own distinctive style. Currently, she is a member of the Hebei Provincial Artists Association and the Xingtai Municipal Artists Association. Wang Yang’s figure paintings in traditional Chinese ink style feature ethereal compositions, elegant curves, graceful structures, and innovative, original designs, imbued with refined and witty charm that offers viewers aesthetic pleasure. Her works are rich in narrative, inviting prolonged contemplation; their expressive effects are vivid yet gracefully restrained, romantic yet imbued with poetic resonance. The richness of variation, delicacy of expression, substance conveyed through spirit, fine yet resilient brushwork, and continuous flowing lines are all hallmarks of her art. Wang Yang holds unique insights into traditional Chinese painting. Her representative bird-and-flower works—such as tulips, carnations, and lotus blossoms in full bloom—blend inheritance with innovation, respecting tradition without being bound by it. By incorporating non-traditional pigments into classical Chinese painting materials and applying distinctive brushwork techniques, she creates visually striking, fashionable chromatic effects with strong decorative appeal!
