Personal Profile
Li Zunrong, born in 1961, is a native of Dacheng County, Hebei Province, currently residing in Beijing. She is a disciple of the Bai Shi school, an inheritor of expressive ink painting, and a National First-Class Artist. She serves as an academician of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, a council member of the Chinese Painters Association, an academician of the China Central Television Painting and Calligraphy Academy, the Executive Director of Guangran Art Museum, and the Executive Vice President of the Chinese Celebrities and Masters Calligraphy and Painting Academy. She graduated from Langfang Teachers’ Training College and the Correspondence University of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting.
Main works: fish, shrimp, crab, grasshoppers, and landscapes. In her artistic creation, she employs her unique insight and perceptiveness to meticulously refine and craft each composition, endowing her expressive ink paintings with distinctive charm. Her depictions of fish, shrimp, and crabs are vivid and lifelike, capturing their joyful, playful postures and fully expressing these small creatures’ affection for water and love for nature. Particularly remarkable are her fish paintings—exquisitely realistic and spiritedly animated, resembling living Chinese koi swimming freely across the canvas, evoking the sensation that “though no water appears on paper, the fish swim as if immersed in water.” Combined with her skillful use of color, her compositions radiate harmony and unity between animals and nature from every perspective, exuding profound aesthetic appeal. In the collecting community, she is acclaimed as “China’s Foremost Koi Painter.” Consequently, her artworks have garnered widespread acclaim from calligraphy and painting enthusiasts, professionals, masters, and collectors.
Li Zunrong, alongside her husband Mr. Wang Guangran, has frequently participated in national calligraphy and painting competitions and international touring exhibitions, winning numerous awards.
