Personal Profile
Gao Xu, born in 1975 in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. Enlisted in December 1993, graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the Fine Arts Department at the People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art, and further studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
Currently holds the following positions:
Member of Hebei Provincial Artists Association;
Member of Hebei Provincial Calligraphers Association;
Council Member of China Academy of Painting and Calligraphy;
Council Member of Hebei Celebrities and Enterprises Association;
Contracted artist of China Collection World.
Specializes in landscape and flower-and-bird paintings. Mr. Gao’s landscape paintings are grounded in solid and rich traditional techniques, while incorporating certain Western painting elements and contemporary features. Based on profound life experiences, he has gradually developed a unique artistic style of his own. His brushwork is steady yet free-spirited, bold and distinctive, vigorous and expressive. His landscapes are gentle, elegant, and refined, with profound artistic conception, imbued with poetic and Zen-like elegance—clear, pure, ethereal, and enduring, inviting deep contemplation.
Mr. Gao Xu’s works have been exhibited multiple times in large-scale military and national art exhibitions; some have won awards and been collected. His works have also been frequently published in newspapers and periodicals such as “PLA Daily,” “Chinese Painter Journal,” and “PLA Literature and Art.”
