Personal Profile
Geng Guiyun, born in 1945
Currently a member of the Hebei Provincial Writers Association;
Member of the Chinese Society for Metals;
Advisor to the Hebei Provincial Ornamental Stone Association.
Has loved literary creation, calligraphy, and painting since childhood.
Participated in a county art exhibition at age 14; published literary works at age 16; attended the National Youth Literary Creation Activists Conference at age 19, where she was received by Premier Zhou Enlai and Chairman Zhu De.
However, she studied science and engineering in university and spent most of her life engaged in metallurgical process design, drawing industrial blueprints.
It was not until age 65 that she began creating miniature ornamental stone assemblages, applying her artistic foundation and literary sensibility to the creative design and production of stones. Over ten years, she has created over a thousand sets of stone artworks. Her exhibitions “Miniature Ornamental Stone Museum of Chinese Epic” and “Chinese Spirit” Stone Art Creativity Exhibition are world firsts.
Last year, she completed more than 200 sets of works, including over 100 bird-themed stone assemblages prepared to celebrate the Party’s centenary, around 50 fish-themed stone assemblages, approximately 40 chicken-themed stone assemblages, and more than 50 insect-themed stone assemblages.
I wish to further study calligraphy and painting to better complement my stone artworks.
