Liu Shumin, born in 1963, is a native of Quzhou County, Handan City, Hebei Province.

Currently holds the following positions:
Member of the Chinese Mao-style Calligraphy Association
Member of the Chinese Elderly Calligraphers and Painters Association
Director of the Hebei Province Mao-style Calligraphy Research Association
Vice President of the Handan Mao-style Art Society
Director of the Peng Babai Calligraphy and Painting Research Association
Vice President of the China Culture and Art Ocean Calligraphy and Painting Academy
Vice President of the Handan Branch of the Sai Shang Lu Xi Calligraphy and Painting Academy

For many years, he has specialized in studying Mao-style calligraphy. His works have been collected by multiple Chairman Mao memorial halls, museums, and art galleries, and have been published in newspapers and periodicals such as “Calligraphy Newspaper,” “Mao Zedong Bronze Statue Square,” “Fengcheng Poetry Rhyme,” “Hebei Farmer’s Newspaper,” and “Northern Rural Areas.” His works have also been repeatedly recommended on publicity platforms such as “Toutiao,” “Tudou,” and “Youku.”

  Personal Honors   

In 2016, won the National Excellence Award at the “Commemorating September 9th, Eternal Remembrance” Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition.
In 2016, won First Prize at the National Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Creators Annual Conference.
In 2017, his works were collected by the organizing committee of “Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Revolutionary Pioneer Li Dazhao’s Heroic Martyrdom.” In the same year, his works were also collected by the World Traditional Culture Research Institute and the Spanish Branch of the Sai Shang Lu Xi Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
In 2018, his works won the Silver Award at the Second National Fine Calligraphy and Painting Competition.
In July 2019, his works were compiled into a stamp album by China Post and he was honored as an “Art Master Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.”
In October 2019, he was appointed “Honorary Consultant of Ningjin Mao-style Calligraphy Association.” In the same month, his works were selected for publication in “China Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper” and “China International Philately Network,” and he was awarded the honorary title of “Practitioner of Chinese Cultural Revival Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.”
In December 2019, his works were exhibited in the “National Fine Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Commemorating the 126th Anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong’s Birth,” and he was appointed as an artist of the Hebei Province Mao-style Calligraphy Research Association.
In February 2020, his works were rated as “Outstanding Works” in the “United as One, China Will Prevail” National Online Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition organized by the National Calligraphy and Painting Education Committee. His works were also exhibited in the “Artists Unite Against the Epidemic, Calligraphers in Action” thematic exhibition jointly held by Beijing Contemporary Hanmo Art Academy and New China People’s Art Network.
In March 2020, his works won the Third Prize in the “China Good Brand: Culture Powers the Nation in Fighting the Epidemic” competition; in the same month, his works were exhibited in the “Chinese Anti-Epidemic Couplet Calligraphy Public Welfare Exhibition” and received the “Love Creation Award.”
