Xu Shusen, courtesy name Hou Dao, studio name Wu Sheng Zhai, male, born in March 1955, holds a university degree, and is a native of Anci District, Langfang City, Hebei Province.

Since childhood, he has been fond of poetry, calligraphy, and painting. For fifty years, he has continuously practiced copying painting models and calligraphy, studying Wang Xizhi’s “Lanting Xu” and “Shengjiao Xu.” Later, he became a disciple of Mr. Yang Zhejiang, one of the five contemporary masters of Chinese calligraphy and Vice President of the Chinese Hanlin Calligraphy and Painting Academy. Gradually, he developed his own unique artistic style in calligraphy.

From 2015 to 2016, consecutively selected by the Chinese People's Artists Association as a specially recommended contemporary calligraphy and painting master to jointly celebrate the annual sessions of China’s National People’s Congress and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
His calligraphy work “One-Stroke Dragon” was selected for the Milan World Expo in Italy and awarded an Excellence Prize.
His calligraphy works “Dragon” and “Tiger” were collected by the Chinese Generals and Ministers Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
Five of his calligraphy and painting works were selected for publication and distribution as New Year greeting cards in the “China International Philatelic Network” and “Collectible Edition Philatelic Album of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Masters.”
Invited to inscribe the title “Youyou Luming” for Tu Youyou’s poetry collection.
Invited to write the title characters for the TV series “Same Bed, Different Dreams.”
