Li Hanzhi
Personal Profile
Li Hanzhi, originally named Li Pinzhi, with the art name Yunlong Jushi, was born in 1952 in Nanning, Guangxi. He is currently a member of the China Folklore Association and the Guangxi Folklore Association, a council member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, president of the Guangxi Folklore Association's Cultural Development Promotion Committee, and an art consultant for the Nanning Municipal People's Congress Calligraphy and Painting Academy.       Since childhood, Hanzhi has been diligent in his studies, fond of reading classics and historical texts, especially passionate about brush and ink, with a deep love for calligraphy and extraordinary dedication. He has been engaged in calligraphy for over forty years. He has studied and copied dozens of renowned ancient steles and rubbings, covering a wide range of styles. He initially studied the styles of Ouyang Xun, Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Zhao Mengfu, as well as Zhong Yao, Zhang Zhi, the Two Wangs, and Wang Duo, then progressed to Qin seal script, Han clerical script, bamboo and silk manuscripts, and Wei stele script. He has also deeply studied Emperor Huizong of Song’s slender gold script, absorbing ancient methods while infusing fresh creativity, and is proficient in all five script styles: seal, clerical, regular, running, and cursive.
Hanzhi’s running script monumental characters feature sharp strokes from all eight directions, fluid brushwork, and a mature, elegant style with rounded, outwardly expansive structures—majestic, graceful, firm, and powerful. His cursive script draws widely from the strengths of various masters, transforming within the bounds of tradition; his brushwork is free and dynamic, bold and passionate, with continuous, swirling strokes and powerful, resilient force. Hanzhi is particularly skilled in small regular script and excels in bamboo-and-silk script.
Since the 1990s, Hanzhi has diligently studied small regular script, building upon his solid foundation in regular script to challenge the extreme precision of fly-head micro-calligraphy. After more than twenty years of relentless effort and painstaking dedication, his series of exquisite micro-calligraphy handscrolls—including the *Diamond Sutra*, *Tao Te Ching*, *Tea Classic*, and *The Art of War*—have been successfully completed. Each character measures approximately two millimeters in size; though tiny, they remain clear and distinctive, earning unanimous acclaim from peers in the calligraphy community.

Hanzhi’s micro-calligraphy masterpieces are exceedingly rare and堪称中华一绝, making them a preferred treasure for collectors and enthusiasts. His works are widely collected by overseas Chinese communities in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Vietnam (Consulate), South Africa, and among domestic audiences across various sectors. His works have been included in more than thirty authoritative publications, including *History of Chinese Calligraphy*, *Great View of Contemporary Chinese Masters’ Calligraphy and Painting*, and *Treasury of Masterpieces by Chinese Poets and Calligraphers*. He has been honored with titles such as “Master of Chinese Poetry and Calligraphy” and “Outstanding Chinese Poet, Calligrapher, and Painter.”
