Li Benjie, male, style name Hongyuan, study room name Yatingju.Born in Anhui in 1987, now resides in Huizhou, Guangdong, member of the Huizhou Calligraphy Association, with a university degree.
From a young age, he has been deeply interested in traditional Chinese cultural arts, studying hard pen calligraphy and soft brush calligraphy. During his middle school years in 2003, he accidentally came into contact with Qi Gong's calligraphy works. He was deeply attracted by the lines, structure, firmness, straightness, danger, and the strong contrast between the thickness, length, softness, and hardness of the strokes and characters, as well as the clever interplay and response between characters. The vertical strokes are straight and firm, the dots are full and stable, making the characters very interesting and appreciated by both refined and common people. This led him to fall in love with calligraphy, and he began his calligraphy learning journey through the guidance of Master Qi.
He initially studied the Qi style. Since 2015, he has furthered his studies at Mochi Academy for calligraphy training until 2018, accumulating a total of 300 class hours. He has had the opportunity to learn from contemporary masters such as Chairman Yang Jiawei, Wang Xi, Zhang Weidong, Zhu Pangpang, Fang Fang, and Gu Songxian, receiving guidance and corrections from various experienced teachers. He has received correct concepts about calligraphy and embarked on a formal academic development path. Starting from basic brush techniques, reading and copying character models, memorizing and creating, his calligraphy started from Tang dynasty regular script and Han dynasty cursive script, and he has practiced the works of Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Ouyang Xun, Yan Zhenqing, and Qi Gong's style. His main focus is on running and cursive scripts. His works have participated in many provincial exhibitions and achieved excellent results.
