 Hou Xuanhuan, born in 1954 in Meijiang District, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. Researcher of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, and the head of Yupinzhai. Mr. Hou was influenced by his father at a young age and became fascinated with calligraphy. From his youth, he practiced extensively various famous calligraphy works, especially those of Zhao Mengfu. Mr. Hou deeply understands the vastness and depth of calligraphy as an art. In his journey to the hall of calligraphic art, he has devoted himself with almost a monk's devotion, regarding calligraphy as his lifelong pursuit. He is a person with thoughts and loves to think. He has always been pursuing the ultimate meaning of calligraphy art, seeking the great joy of aesthetic freedom after emotional release. He is truly a person who understands calligraphy art. Different levels of thinking have made his calligraphic art stand out from others.

In 2005, he participated in the National Calligraphy and Painting Masters Exchange Exhibition and won a bronze medal, and was awarded the title of "Chinese Contemporary Literati Calligrapher". In 2011, he was awarded the title of "Top 100 Calligraphers and Painters in the Era of Prosperous China" by the National Famous Calligraphy and Painting Work Committee. In 2013, he was awarded the title of "Cultural Celebrity of Chinese Culture" by the Chinese Culture Academy. That same October, he was selected as one of the "Top Ten Leading Figures in the Art World of the Chinese Dream" by several authoritative online media in China, including the China Enterprise News Alliance Information Science Research Institute and China Calligraphy and Painting Network. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy Art Research Association; Vice Chairman and Art Consultant of the Arts Channel of the Party Building Newspaper; Vice Chairman and Art Consultant of the Art Capital Council of China Enterprise News.
