Zhou Ju'an, pen name "Bu Yanzi," is a deaf Han Chinese artist born in April 1982 in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, and is one of the prominent painters in Gansu. At the age of one, he became bilaterally deaf due to an injection during illness. In June 2000, he graduated from the Lanzhou Special Education School in Gansu Province with a vocational diploma in fine arts. Since childhood, he has been passionate about painting and received instruction from Han Buyan, a disciple of Qi Baishi. Through persistent self-exploration and dedicated study, he humbly learns from diverse sources and absorbs various styles, developing a unique artistic identity characterized by a blend of ruggedness, freshness, and richness. His works have won multiple awards in national art exhibitions, and he is especially skilled in depicting crabs, shrimp, and lotus flowers. Currently, he serves as Vice President of the Gansu Branch of the Chinese Hanlin Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, Deputy Secretary-General of the Gansu Military Innovation Art Academy, Council Member of the China Record Network Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, Council Member of the Gansu Silk Road Association, and Council Member of the Gansu Association of Painters and Calligraphers, among other positions.
