Personal Profile

Yao Zhanwei, male, courtesy name Qiusuo, pseudonym Master of Tiandan Studio and Native of the Homeland of Tianma, was born in 1964 in Wuwei, Gansu. He served in the military for over a decade (Baiyin Artillery Regiment, Lanzhou Military Region; General Staff Department, Lanzhou Military Region). In 1991, he graduated from the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University with a major in calligraphy, holding an associate degree. He is a council member of the China Calligraphers and Painters Association, a council member of the Gansu Provincial Directly-Subordinate Organs Calligraphy and Painting Association, Vice President and Deputy Secretary-General of the Gansu Province Medical and Health Calligraphy, Photography and Art Association, President of the Senior Calligraphy and Painting Society of the Gansu Provincial Health Department, a calligrapher of the Calligraphy and Painting Working Committee of the Gansu Greening Foundation and the Ecological Calligraphy Academy, Vice President of the Calligraphy and Painting Institute of the Lanzhou-Wuwei Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Gansu Provincial Calligraphers Association and the Gansu Provincial Youth Calligraphers Association. He specializes in running script, regular script, and clerical script. His works have won multiple awards and been collected by various institutions, or published in newspapers and magazines both within and outside Gansu Province.
