Hao Wanduo, pen name Yuan Sheng, style name Jingmo Studio, Taoist name Mingmo Jushi, is from Jingtai County, Gansu. Since childhood, he has been deeply passionate about painting and calligraphy, relentlessly self-taught and quietly devoted for over four decades. He has explored various script styles, diligently studying and emulating the works of Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Ouyang Xun, Zhao Mengfu, and others, while seeking guidance from renowned calligraphers nationwide. His works have been exhibited and awarded numerous times across China, and have also been displayed in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Russia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. His artworks have been collected by foreign friends and overseas Chinese. The character “Tiger” he wrote was collected by General Jing Xueqin, Commander of the Chinese Air Force. His works have been included in such publications as “Selection of Poetic Calligraphy by Contemporary Chinese Calligraphers,” “Collection of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masterpieces,” “Eastern Sons,” “Selection of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphers’ Ink Traces,” “World Famous Artists Encyclopedia,” “Famous Painters and Calligraphers of the 20th Century,” and “Desire for the Sacred Flame: Ten-Thousand-Meter Calligraphy Scroll.”
For many years, Mr. Hao Wanduo has dedicated himself to studying famous stele and rubbings, researching calligraphy theory and techniques. He has repeatedly copied Wang Xizhi’s “Lanting Xu” and “Shengjiao Xu,” striving to uncover their essential artistic spirit. Through learning from multiple masters and accumulating years of persistent practice and refinement, Hao Wanduo’s calligraphic style has gradually matured into a robust and rugged elegance.
Hao Wanduo’s calligraphy demonstrates profound traditional foundation while reflecting contemporary aesthetics and unique artistic insights. Viewing his running-cursive works, one observes dense, weighty lines and strictly structured forms—both graceful and substantial, exuding a majestic momentum.
Some of Hao Wanduo’s running-cursive pieces are concise and fluid; others are rustic and dry, imbued with an elevated aesthetic charm. His bold, unrestrained, and spontaneous energy has forged a distinctive, unparalleled personal style—elevated and transcendent.

His compositional arrangements are rhythmically varied and richly paced, evoking deep emotional resonance.
