Li Yongsheng, a native of Anxi, Fujian, is currently a senior clerk at the Education, Science, Culture and Public Health Committee of the Anxi County People's Congress. He is a member of the Calligraphers Association of Central State Organs, a committee member of the Calligraphy Department at the Buddhist Art Museum of the Buddhist Association of China, a member of the Quanzhou Calligraphers Association,Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Calligraphers Association (Hong Kong)a member of the China Arts and Crafts Association, a member of Shuimo Danqing Academy, a member of the World Federation of Chinese Calligraphers and Painters, a master of Chinese Zen art, Vice Chairman of the "Chinese Cultural and Art Research Association", recognized by "China Good Brand" as an influential calligraphy artist and artistic image ambassador. He is also the chief consultant of "China Calligraphy and Painting Information Network", one of the top ten figures in "Chinese Painting and Calligraphy 500 Strong" for the years 2012 and 2015, awarded the title of "Morally Upright and Artistically Accomplished" by the Chinese Cultural and Art Research Association, a contracted calligrapher with the "Xizhi Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper", advisory board member of the Cross-Strait Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, and was recommended as a key artist during the 2018 National Two Sessions.
He has studied calligraphy since childhood, following the styles of Yan Zhenqing and the "Two Wangs" (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), while incorporating elements from Huai Su, Huang Tingjian, Sun Guoting, Xu Boqing, and others. Over time, he developed his own distinctive running and cursive script styles—rooted in tradition, elegant and refined without excess intensity. His brushwork, ink application, and character composition reflect both inheritance and innovation. Whether bold or gentle, structured or free-flowing, his works shape meaning through form, integrating artistic insights from nature and daily life into calligraphy, demonstrating strong individual creativity. His works have been widely praised and collected by calligraphy enthusiasts, collectors, connoisseurs, and social organizations around the world.
His calligraphy has been selected to be engraved alongside works by Shen Peng, Qi Gong, Zhang Hai, Ouyang Zhongshi, and other renowned calligraphers in the "World Famous Figures Cultural Village – Stele Garden of Contemporary Calligraphy Masters" in Weifang, Shandong. It has been exhibited and exchanged at the National Gallery in London, UK, permanently collected by Taiwan's "Chinese Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Art Association", "Chinese Art and Culture Exchange Association", and the "Art Olympics Foundation", and published in Hong Kong's "Beautiful China" magazine. In 2016, his works and personal portrait were officially included in the "Commemorating the 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China" and "Welcoming the 19th National Congress" themed "China Stamp Album", earning him the title of "Contemporary Master of Chinese Calligraphy". Approved by the State Post Bureau, these stamps were issued globally as limited editions under the honor of "National Calling Card". He participated in Fujian Province’s exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of local people's congress standing committees; took part in the "World Chinese Business Artists Exchange" activities in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Macao, and other regions; joined the painting and calligraphy exchange event hosted by the journal "Qiushi" in Jiaxing titled "Tracing Red Memories, Strengthening Faith in the Party"; and was invited twice (in 2017 and 2018) to participate in the Chinese Television Education Channel's Spring Festival Gala calligraphy and painting programs. He has won over twenty national calligraphy competition awards and has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications.
