Yu Changcan, styled Xianyun Wushi, a native of Yong'an, Fujian, with ancestral roots in Nanchang, Jiangxi, was born in 1972. He inherited his calligraphy skills from his grandfather and has received guidance from Lin Yongquan, former chairman of the Yong'an Artists Association, as well as instruction from Liu Huanfu, a council member of the Artists Association. He graduated from Jiangxi Net College in 1995, is a member of the Yong'an Collectors Association, and enjoys calligraphy, painting, and collecting. He specializes in freehand-style depictions of arhats and the "Four Gentlemen" (plum blossom, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum). He has participated in numerous major art exhibitions and competitions.
