Yi Yun, styled Shimu Studio, Fujian Shishi native, original name Cai Wugai, National First-Class Artist, member of China Hard Pen Calligraphy Association, member of Quanzhou Artists Association, researcher at Chen Xiangfa Studio, Renmin University of China Painting Academy, painter at Zhu Ling Landscape Painting Studio in Beijing, council member of Beijing Tianchi Ink Painting Research Academy, graduated from the Advanced Painting and Calligraphy Program at Tsinghua University Academy of Fine Arts. Studied under teachers Wang Yuguo, Chen Xiangfa, Zhu Ling, among others.
Has participated multiple times in painting and calligraphy competitions organized by national, provincial, and municipal artists associations. Once awarded the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts Painting and Calligraphy Creation Progress Award and Excellence Award. The ink painting "Continuous Mountains and Precipitous Gorges" was collected by the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts Advanced Creation Base. Won the gold prize for three consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018) at the Quanzhou Disabled Persons Art Exhibition.
In 2016, won second prize at the 6th Fujian-Taiwan Disabled Persons Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition with "Nostalgia."
In 2016, the landscape painting "Pine Wind Singing Like a Song" was exhibited at the first "Flying Dreams, Marching Toward a Well-Off Society" National Disabled Persons Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition, held at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference building exhibition hall, and included in the exhibition collection.
On June 6, 2017, the "On the Road—Cai Wugai Chinese Painting Exhibition" was hosted by the Shishi City Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shishi City Disabled Persons' Federation, and Shishi Artists Association.
In 2017, the landscape painting "Viewing Waterfalls in Streams and Mountains" won the gold award at the first "Lanting Cup" National Painting and Calligraphy Competition.
In 2018, the Chinese painting "Hometown Hills Come Dreaming" was selected for the Fujian Provincial Artists Association's exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening-up: Youth Art Exhibition.
In 2019, the Chinese painting "Cold Majesty Gazing Over a Thousand Miles" was selected for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China: "Great Intentions"—the 6th Fujian Provincial Freehand Brushwork Painting Exhibition.
