Since childhood, he has been deeply fond of Qi Baishi’s paintings of shrimp. He believes that shrimp, though small and vulnerable, are resilient and adaptable, symbolizing strength and perseverance. Shrimp are transparent and pure, embodying noble character. Their segmented bodies represent continuous progress and ever-increasing prosperity. He regards shrimp as little dragons—the dragon being a symbol of good fortune and a representation of the Chinese nation. Thus, for twenty years, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to painting shrimp, refining tens of thousands of works, until finally reaping the fruits of his labor. He pioneered in China the creation of monumental shrimp paintings named “Lucky Giant Shrimp,” and his representative innovative work, “The Lucky Giant Shrimp,” has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records.
His works have received critiques and guidance from renowned masters such as Tao Rurang, Han Tianheng, Wang Xinsheng, Zhang Quande, and Wang Lianghu. His artworks have been presented as state gifts to presidents, prime ministers, and leaders of multiple countries, and have been collected by 36 foreign embassies in China, as well as by individuals and collectors across Southeast Asia.
