The current president of Shanghai Badaitou Calligraphy and Painting Academy, director of Ning Yunhan Calligraphy and Painting Art Museum, vice president of Shanghai Chinese and Western Artists Association, and member of Shanghai Calligraphers Association.

Maritime calligrapher and painter Gu Benjian, studied under teachers Gao Shixiong and Liu Xiaoqing, currentlyShanghaiDean of Badaitou Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Director of Ningyunhan Calligraphy and Painting Art MuseumShanghaiVice President of the Chinese Western American Association and member of the Shanghai Calligraphers Association. In 2011, he was awarded the title of "Contemporary Outstanding Artist" at the 4th China Japan Friendship Cultural and Art Exchange. In 2013, together with several calligraphy and painting artists, he created the "Chinese Soul of National Rejuvenation" for the Central Party School and wrote the preface and postscript in regular script. In 2015, I was invited by the Chen Yun Memorial Hall to write the full text of the award-winning poetry couplet to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Comrade Chen Yun's birth.
Gu Benjian's calligraphy style is elegant and graceful, with superb brushstrokes that are both graceful and refined, exuding an ancient and elegant atmosphere of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Running script is like flowing clouds and water, with a strong charm and a self-contained style. Regular script is dignified and elegant, with considerable skill. And the layout seeks naturalness in the references and flow in the scattered patterns, greatly adding the charm of the small regular script style. Gu Benjian is also skilled in landscapes and flowers, and his works are highly sought after by collectors both at home and abroad.
而今，顾本建挥洒自如的书法技艺日臻成熟。他先后被评为上海“百名市民书法家”、“中日文化交流特使”、“沪浙地区最受藏界欢迎的年度艺术家”、“当代杰出艺术家”、“中国传统文化最高成就奖”等奖项。就在Hong Kong的一次拍卖会上，他的一套作品福禄寿作品被拍到了60万港币的高价，成了业界中的佼佼者。
