Jin Yunchang, Mongolian, is a native of Beijing, born in 1957. Jin Yunchang serves as Deputy Director of the Ancient Calligraphy and Painting Department at the Palace Museum in Beijing. He also concurrently holds positions such as Member of the Board of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, Member of the Appraisal and Evaluation Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and Member of the Advisory and Authentication Expert Committee of the Chinese Collectors Association. In 1982 Capital Normal University graduated and remained on faculty, teaching classical Chinese. He once served as Secretary General of the Beijing Language Society and Secretary General of the Classical Chinese Research Society. At the same time, he studied calligraphy under Ouyang Zhongshi and Kang Yin , participating in the establishment of the calligraphy art education program at Capital Normal University and the creation of China's first doctoral program in calligraphy. He was appointed as Associate Professor and Master's Degree Supervisor for this program. In 1997, he was transferred to the Palace Museum in Beijing. The following year, he became Deputy Director of the Ancient Calligraphy and Painting Department. For many years, he has been responsible for the collection of calligraphy and painting works and stele rubbings in the museum, dedicating himself to research, broadening his horizons, and significantly improving his artistic cultivation and appraisal skills.
