 Zhou Xingrong, male, from Nanchang, Jiangxi, born in October 1953 in Dongxiang, Jiangxi, self-taught graduate of Nanchang University, painter of Shiqi Art Institute in Beijing, senior art specialist, member of the provincial photography association, standing committee member of the Shutong Calligraphy Research Association, former director of the Cultural Center of Dongxiang County, Fuzhou City. His calligraphy teacher was Master Shutong; his painting teacher was Master Shi Qi. His works have won awards many times and have been published and exhibited in national, provincial and local newspapers. After visiting the calligraphy master Shutong in Beijing in the 1980s, Zhou Xingrong became fascinated with Shutong's calligraphy. Through decades of persistent study and research on Shutong's calligraphy, he has achieved remarkable success. Zhou Xingrong's freehand Chinese paintings have unique artistic conceptions, and his themes and forms are novel, endowing his works with a sense of life and new artistic connotations. His works are influenced by traditional Chinese painting, and also inherit the style of his mentor Shi Qi, which combines figurative, abstract, and impressionistic elements. He has made efforts in points, lines, and surfaces to light up his own lamp, and continuously innovates Chinese painting art by drawing on various schools. With unique colors, rich compositions, and diverse themes, he has created a "new world of beauty", and his works possess a "shocking beauty", forming a distinct personality and contemporary characteristics.
