 Ting Maolin (formerly Ting Yonghong), male, 48 years old, was born in September 1969 in a common farmer's family in Changhai Town, Guiding County, Guizhou Province. Influenced by the culture of his ancestors and parents, he has been fond of literature and calligraphy since childhood, often helping neighbors to write various documents, contracts, certificates, applications, couplets, and tombstones.

        In October 1990, he joined the Armed Police Force of Yunnan Provincial Corps, serving in the Dali Detachment. In the army, he served as a squad leader, clerk, and news reporter. Within a few years of joining the army, he published more than a thousand articles in domestic newspapers and magazines. He was rated as "Outstanding Correspondent" by the "Yunnan Daily" and "Dali Daily", and "Outstanding Reporter" by the Armed Police Dali Detachment. He was also called "a pen of the Dali Detachment" by his comrades.         After leaving the military in October 1996, he returned to his hometown and was employed as an editor and journalist for the "Guiding Daily". In 2001, he resigned and went south to Guangzhou and Shenzhen to work. He worked as a laborer, a small worker, and served as a security team leader, human resources manager, and administrative manager. In January 2012, he returned to his hometown and started the Guiding Maolin Mechanized Wood Charcoal Factory and Maolin Stone Monument Factory. In his daily work and life, no matter how busy he is, he always sets aside time to practice calligraphy, and he loves calligraphy so much that he sometimes forgets to eat and sleep. His hard work has yielded abundant results.         On April 1, 2014, Ting Maolin joined the Chinese Pian Shu Calligraphers Association. In 2015, he participated in the national calligraphy art competition held by the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association. In May 2016, he joined the Chinese Hard Pen Calligraphy Association and obtained the qualifications of Senior Training Instructor, Lecturer, Standard Character Writing Teacher, and Academician of the Beijing People and Painting and Calligraphy Academy. He has been appointed as Deputy Director by the Guizhou Branch of the Chinese Auspicious Calligraphy Academy, Researcher by the Zhongzhou University Calligraphy and Painting Academy, Standing Committee Member by the Guizhou Creation Base of the Pian Shu Committee of the China Social Arts Association, and Calligraphy Teacher by Changming Primary School in Guiding County. In May 2017, he attended the sixth "Creation Improvement Class" training at the Xi'an Calligraphy College and obtained the Certificate of Bachelor of Calligraphy. In 2017 and 2018, he was awarded the titles of "Chinese Realistic Calligraphy and Painting Masters", "Meritorious Artist of the Four Decades of Reform and Opening-up", "Proud Figure of the Art of Calligraphy and Painting in 2017", and "Representative Figure of Calligraphy and Painting Achievements" by the Ministry of Culture, People's Art Network, and Reform Network. On August 1, 2016, Ting Maolin successfully held an individual calligraphy art exhibition at the Cultural Center of Guiding County and Changming Primary School, which opened the precedent of individual exhibitions in Guiding County for over two thousand years. Leaders from the Communist Party Committee, Government, Cultural Federation, Calligraphy Association, and Elderly Calligraphy and Painting Promotion Association of Guiding County attended the opening ceremony, and thousands of calligraphy enthusiasts and residents came to visit. In October 2016, he established the Guiding Maolin Calligraphy Education and Training Center. His achievements have received recognition and attention from all levels of the county government and departments, and the county TV station, the official website of the county government, as well as media such as Baidu, Tencent, Sohu, and Youku have successively reported on it.         Ting Maolin is honest, kind, and trustworthy. He presents himself as a common farmer, lives modestly, and works with high aspirations. His Pian Shu calligraphy reflects his character, strong and solid, steady and powerful. Many of the tourist attractions developed in Guiding County bear his calligraphy, which will be passed down through generations.         Although Ting Maolin has achieved some success and gained fame in local calligraphy, he does not look down upon others. He still persists in learning calligraphy. He is now a member of the National Famous Artists and Calligraphers Association.
