Liu Bowen, also known as Congling, is a female artist from Beijing. She has loved painting and calligraphy since childhood. She was a disciple of Wang Youwei, an accomplished student of Professor Jin Hongjun from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in the 1980s; she was also a disciple of Wang Weijie, a student of Zhang Yifan, who was a student of Zhang Daqian. Her ink shrimp paintings were guided by Master Guo Lan, a member of the Qi Baishihui Association. She is now a professional painter. She focuses on the research and creation of Chinese painting art, excelling in freehand flower-and-bird and landscape paintings. Her style is generous and bold, with strong and vigorous brushwork. She deeply understands the techniques of Qi Baishi and Bai Xueshi. Her landscape paintings are elegant and refined, with a distant artistic conception, reflecting the style of Zhang Daqian and Huang Binyong.
