Li Xianghui, born in 1963, has a university degree. He is from Tongzhou, Beijing. His artistic names are Xianggu, Qingxia, and Hongshan. His pseudonyms are Hongshan Gallery and Hongshan Scholar. As a child, he loved painting. During his middle school years, he was influenced by the art educator and folk artist Ma Shouzhu, who inspired him to start painting. He often copied the "Jizi Yuan" painting manual and repeatedly practiced the works of great masters such as Xu Beihong, Qi Baishi, and Pan Tianshou. After starting work, he occasionally painted oil color paintings and murals for new houses of villagers in four villages. In 1985, he participated in distance learning at the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence College; In November 2017, his work participated in the "11th National Painting and Calligraphy Competition" and won the first prize; In December 2017, his work participated in the "Art Moves China" 2017 Most Influential Artists Selection organized by the Henan Ten Thousand Cultural Arts Center and won the first prize. In May 2018, his work participated in the "Belt and Road" Calligraphy and Painting Art Competition organized by the Henan Ten Thousand Cultural Arts Center and won the second prize. In July 2018, he was appointed as a "Expert" in the field of calligraphy and painting art by the State Policy Think Tank Expert Committee of the China Industrial Cooperation Association. In July 2018, his work won the second prize in the First National Folk Calligraphy and Painting Competition. He is currently a member of the China International Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Association; a member of the "Mushui Danqing Calligraphy and Painting Academy" of the China Education Television; and a member of the China Huaxia Wanlihang Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association.
