Jing Yuguang, Master of Wenchang Hall. Member of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association; Deputy Director of the Beijing Regular Script Art Research Institute; Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Painting and Calligraphy Art Research Institute; Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Yan Zhenqing Calligraphy Research Institute; Full-time Sutra Copyist at Rongbaozhai in Beijing; Guest Professor at Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology; Special Correspondent Artist of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters Encyclopedia; Member of the Chinese Association of Zhouyi Research; Member of the Shaanxi Taoist Association.
Jing Yuguang has loved calligraphy and painting since childhood. He first studied Liu Gongquan, then practiced the "Liquan Ming", and later learned Yan Zhenqing. Absorbing the spirit of the Jin and Tang dynasties and the ancient elegance of the Northern Wei steles. For decades, he has continuously practiced calligraphy, immersed himself in stone rubbings and calligraphy scrolls. His calligraphy covers various styles, with regular script and running script being his strengths. His sutra works are elegant and graceful; his large-character works are vigorous and anciently solid; his paintings cover Song and Yuan styles, with free-flowing ink, and his figures and flowers and birds are vivid and lifelike. In 1997, he further studied at the Qibing Calligraphy and Painting High-level Studio in Beijing; he graduated from the Advanced Study Class of the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting in 2001.
His work "Good Fortune at the Top" won the highest award in calligraphy in 2008. His works "Letting Go" and "Tranquility Leads to Distance" respectively won the Silver Award and Bronze Award in the Chinese Cup. His work "Family Harmony Brings All Prosperity" was collected by the Great Hall of the People in 2009; the same year, his small-character "Admonition to My Son" and "Mid-Autumn Festival" were successfully auctioned by Rongbaozhai. His painting "Joy on the Plum Blossoms" fan was awarded the Silver Prize by the National Federation of Fine Arts. His small flower and bird works received a nomination prize in the 2013 art exhibition. He has been registered as an outstanding talent reserve by the Ministry of Culture. The Annual Honor Award for Model Figures of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
Poetry expresses emotions and aspirations; while studying, he especially enjoys composing poetry and couplets and feels happy about it.
Beyond calligraphy and painting, Confucianism is the top priority. He has cultivated his mind on Mount Zhongnan, deeply studying the theory of Zhouyi; widely exploring Fengshui culture; to compensate for his own shortcomings.
