Li Zhenxiao
Personal Profile
Li Zhenxiao, also known as Xiangchun Xianren, was born in Meisuo Village by the Wenyu River in a Li family. He is now in his fifties. Influenced by his strict father, Li Zhenxiao started learning calligraphy from an early age. His brushwork depicts orchids with full bloom, and his poetic inscriptions are fragrant with the strokes of his brush. Li Zhenxiao loves orchids, and the orchids love Li Zhenxiao; the two have become one.
2000, Zhenxiao established his studio named "Yougu Yilan", reflecting the character of a gentleman. He generously taught his students, saying: "As long as you like it and are willing to learn, I will teach you without charge." Over the past decade, Zhenxiao has taken many apprentices, and they have grown into a forest of peaches and plums. "I am just an ordinary person," he said, "I dare not dream of becoming a famous painter or calligrapher." As the Tang poet Li Bai wrote: "The fragrance of the orchid spreads far, and the sweet grass leaves its roots fragrant." There is no need to compete for the colors of spring; one's life can be that of a commoner! In October 2017, his work won the Outstanding Award at the Sufei Art Culture Development Center in Kaifeng, China, in the China-Australia "Two Cities Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition". In December 2017, he was awarded the title of "Most Influential Artist of 2017" at the "Art Touches China" Most Influential Artist Selection organized by the Henan Ten Thousand Cultural Arts Center. In April 2018, he was rated as a senior member by the China International Modern Art Research Center. In June 2018, he was appointed as a "Calligraphy and Painting Art Expert" by the State Policy Think Tank Expert Committee of the China Industrial Cooperation Association. On October 10, 2018, he participated in the "Never Forget Our Original Aspiration, Remember Our Mission, the Second National Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" held by the Dahu Calligraphy and Painting Gallery of the Henan Ten Thousand Cultural Arts Center, and won the Silver Award in Chinese painting. In July 2019, he won the Bronze Award at the China-Russia Friendship Art Exhibition held by the China Artists Association, the China Calligraphers Association, and the China-Russia Friendship Art Gallery!
