Liu Zhengdong, pen name Liu Yan, art name Mu Yi, Jiazi, Yizi,male, born in 1968, National First-Class Fine Arts Artist,specializing in landscape painting, also skilled in figures, flowers and birds, etc., his works mostly feature ancient styles, having studied the brushwork of masters from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties to modern times, admiring the artistic spirit of calligraphers and painters such as Wang Xizhi, Gu Kaizhi, Huang Gongwang, Ni Yunlin, Dong Qichang, Shen Zhou, Tang Bohu, Eight Great Mountain Men, the Four Wangs, Shi Tao, and others.His Chinese paintings have been repeatedly selected for international and national art competitions. His ink paintings are collected by many competition organizing committees: the work "Three Gorges Sentiment" was selected for the Louvre Museum in France, "The Great Wall" was chosen for the Milan World Expo in Italy, "Fisherman" was selected in the Beijing Huaxia Stars selection, and "Tai Shan Majestic Wind" was chosen for the Diaoyu Islands Art Competition. Many of his ink paintings have been published in large-scale books and art periodicals. He donated multiple artworks to the people affected by the Ya'an earthquake in Sichuan Province, contributed pieces to the Jiangsu Provincial Children's Foundation, and donated numerous works to the China Charity Association. His artworks are collected by many friends both at home and abroad. His works have appeared in publications such as the People's Political Consultative Daily, China Painting and Calligraphy Newspaper, Chinese Overseas Times, Yangtze River Evening News, and Jiangnan Evening News. He now has many fans across the country who appreciate his works. His style is ancient yet serene and lofty, with bold brushwork and ink application, free and unrestrained, profound in meaning—whether painting landscapes, figures, or flowers and birds, he directly completes each piece in one breath using only a brush, never sketching with pencil first. He painted a version of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival," entirely done in brushwork.
