Zhang Tongzhu currently resides in Beijing. Member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, National First-Class Fine Arts Professional, recipient of special government allowances. Special-appointed professor at the Liu Haisu Art Academy. Director of the Cangjie Painting and Calligraphy Institute. Assistant instructor, senior researcher, and驻地 painter at the high-level research class for expressive flower-and-bird and expressive figure painting at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. Vice President of the Research Association for Theme-based Expressive Flower-and-Bird Painting in China. Member of the Henan Calligraphers Association and the Henan Artists Association. Deputy Chairman of the Puyang Artists Association. Studied under Duanmu Mengxi, Zhang Guoliang, Zhang Lichen, Guo Shifu, Wang Peidong, Li Zhixiang, Zhou Baojun, and others. His works have won the highest honor award from the Singapore New神州 Art Academy, the honor gold medal at the Sino-Korean Calligraphy and Painting Masters Exchange Exhibition, and the highest honor award at the Sino-Japanese-Korean Hundred Masters Calligraphy and Painting Exchange Exhibition. In 2013, his ink painting "Spring Sunshine" was selected as one of the entries for the Eight Mountain Man Cup National Flower-and-Bird Painting Exhibition organized by the China Artists Association. In 2014, his work "[Rhythm]" was included in the "Hán Mò Qí Lǔ" National First Flower-and-Bird Painting Exhibition.
