Personal Profile
Qiu Xuefei, pen name Cunfu, is a member of the China Agricultural Workers Democratic Party, a renowned writer and calligrapher, and currently a member of the Chinese Education Television水墨丹青 Painting and Calligraphy Academy.
He has served in the military and worked as a journalist, formerly serving as Executive Deputy Editor of "The Pride of the Republic" and Deputy Director of Publicity for the Ningde Municipal Committee of the Agricultural Workers Democratic Party. In his calligraphy creation, he stands out uniquely by integrating ancient bird-insect seal script with modern running and cursive styles, incorporating his own insights to gradually develop an unconventional writing style. Observing his calligraphy, one senses his free-spirited interests, relaxed emotions, flexible fingers and wrists, composed brushwork, vibrant artistic atmosphere, and abundant elegance. His works flow like clouds and water, dynamic and majestic—when he picks up the brush, his mind and spirit are fully focused; each stroke dances lightly with the subtle fragrance of ink, imbuing the paper with balanced dryness and wetness. The entire piece resembles birds perched on branches, suddenly soaring into the clouds. His calligraphy excels not only in specialization but also in versatility, with inspiration flowing freely during creation. He has developed a distinctive personal language of brush and ink, and his works cannot be imitated by ordinary people.
Qiu Xuefei's literary works and calligraphy art have won awards—including first, second, third prizes, and commendation awards—more than thirty times from the expert review committee of the China Writers Association Century Forum, China Writers Magazine, and the 8th National Painting and Calligraphy Competition. For the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, his calligraphy was selected for inclusion in a stamp album issued by the Post and Telecommunications Department. In 2017 and 2018, he was invited to participate in the Edinburgh International Arts and Culture Festival in the UK and the international cultural exchange event celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Spain. His submitted calligraphy work received the Excellence Award and was permanently collected by institutions in both the UK and Spain. In 2020, he was invited to join the Spring Festival Gala hosted by China Education Television. He has been named “National Outstanding News and Cultural Worker” three times and personally met and photographed with national leaders such as former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Fu Tieshan, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Li Meng, and Abliz Ablizetixi.
