Personal Profile

Fu Xiaoming, pen name: Tianya Langzi, was born in Quanzhou in 1962, Beijing native, Professor (listed as a distinguished professor in the Ministry of Culture talent database), National First-Class Artist, Senior Economist, member of the China Democratic League, graduated from the Foreign Language Department of Xiamen University with a bachelor’s degree, and completed graduate studies at Beijing Institute of Economics and Trade. After graduating from university in 1985, he was assigned to the State Council Machinery and Electrical Equipment Commission to work on foreign economic cooperation. In 1989, he transferred to the People's Literature Publishing House, where he edited numerous world classics and participated in the editorial compilation of difficult translations such as the Complete Works of Shakespeare. He also translated and published works like The Anti-Death Alliance. From 1993 onward, he successively served as General Manager of a Sino-foreign joint venture Starlight Company, Vice Chairman of the national economic magazine Discovery, Honorary President of the Oriental Art Research Institute, and Chief Editor of Ri Yue Publishing House. Since 2005, he has been serving as Director of the Foreign Languages Department and Responsible Person for the Business Department at Quanzhou Information Engineering College, and a member of the first Academic Committee.

His main academic achievements are as follows:
One, in the field of art: He has won first prizes in dozens of national painting and calligraphy competitions. Beijing People's Painting Academy conferred him the title of National First-Class Artist and included him in the National First-Class Artist Network. His works have been exhibited in Japan, Singapore, and other countries. In 2017, he was specially recommended by the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In 2019, he was specially recommended by the People's Daily as an outstanding artist. He has received the honor of "Hundred Artists." He spent two years creating a massive landscape sculpture of about 200 square meters and over 50 cubic meters using waste materials, which was covered in depth by the Strait Daily. His animal-shaped telephone design earned a national utility model patent. His calligraphy and Chinese paintings have been included in dozens of art collections and published.
Two, in literature: His translated works include Gitanjali, published by Fudan University Press—the most prestigious university press in China; the poetry collection Love is Cruel, Love is Sweet, also published by Fudan University Press; the translation of The Anti-Death Alliance published by Zhejiang Arts and Literature Press; and hundreds of world classics edited under his supervision, including Hundred Warriors, published by the People's Literature Publishing House. His famous poems “To a Friend,” “Reflections on the Great Wall,” and “First Date” were published in Australian and Hong Kong newspapers and magazines, receiving widespread acclaim.
Three, in education: He has successively served as Director of the Foreign Languages Department and Responsible Person for the Business Department at Quanzhou Information Engineering College. Under his leadership, students won second prize twice and third prize three times in provincial foreign language competitions. The pass rate for the College English Test Band Four rose from 1% to 90%. Students also won first place province-wide in logistics competitions. He has written and published seven university textbooks, authored more than twenty economic papers—several of which won first prizes—and led one national-level scientific research project and two local projects, all successfully concluded.
Four, in economics: As a Senior Economist, he has served as General Manager of Sino-foreign joint ventures, obtained two national invention patents, and led multiple company R&D projects.
He has achieved high standards across art, literature, education, and economics. With multi-dimensional artistic talents, he has received honors such as “National Jewel,” “China’s Master of Arts,” “Republic Poet, Calligrapher, and Painter Achievement Award,” and “Top Ten Art Masters of China.” He has been included in the national “Cultural Giants” album.
