Personal Profile

Hu Chunzao, pen name Chun Tian, has loved calligraphy since childhood. For over a decade, he has regarded calligraphy as both a hobby and a spiritual寄托 (emotional support). He is especially skilled in running script and clerical script, having practiced running script for ten years, demonstrating profound calligraphic foundation and strong artistic accomplishment. Hu Chunzao's works mainly focus on running script, with cursive and regular scripts as supplementary styles. His pieces flow like clouds and water, heavy and majestic, showing deep mastery in running script, regular script, and cursive script.

Recognized as a Level One Calligrapher by the Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Cultural Industry Calligraphy Fund Management Committee, and the Qualification Certification Office of the National Famous Artists and Calligraphy & Painting Art Community, his works have been included in the China Cultural Promotion to Ten Thousand Households Work Committee and the 2019 China Cultural Promotion to Ten Thousand Households Premium Calendar. In the 2019 Spring Festival Cup National Premium Calligraphy and Painting Competition, he won the gold medal in the senior category.

At the 2019 China Cultural Promotion to Ten Thousand Households Annual Gala and the Artistic Retrospective Exhibition Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up, he was awarded the title of "Artist Who Changes Life Through Art, a Model of Virtue and Artistry" by the Organizing Committee of the China Cultural Promotion to Ten Thousand Households Annual Gala. He was also honored as one of the "Artistic Achievers Honoring 70 Years of China" by the China Cultural Promotion to Ten Thousand Households Work Committee.
