 Personal Profile

Li Jinzhuo, originally named Li Fei, styled Runshi. National First-Class Artist, Deputy Secretary-General of Xinhua Painting and Calligraphy Academy, member of the Central Organs Artists Association, and member of the Beijing Shi Bai Art Research Society. He developed a deep passion for traditional Chinese painting from an early age due to family influence, often practicing by copying works of modern and contemporary masters. His parents were acquainted with renowned artists such as Li Kewei, Wu Zuoren, Liu HaiSu, Bai Xueshi, Lou Shibai, Xu Linlu, and Li Duo; they frequently invited him to their homes, where he would present his copied works for critique. He received long-term guidance from Zhang Lichen and Bai Bohua, greatly benefiting from their teachings.
In 1988, Li Fei (now Jinzhuo) formally became a disciple of Lou Shibai, systematically studying Qi-style painting and seal carving. In the 1990s, he went to Japan for further studies. In 1991, he held a solo exhibition at the private Izu Art Museum in Japan. After returning to China in 1993, he continued studying Chinese painting under his master Lou Shibai until Lou’s passing.
While learning Qi-style art, Li Fei (now Jinzhuo) particularly excelled in painting shrimp. His ink shrimp paintings boldly broke conventions, using bold black ink expressive brushwork combined with subtle variations between ink density and wash to convey both the firmness and liveliness of shrimp, making his works vivid and lifelike. His brushwork is rich in spirit, with powerful yet fluid lines that carry innovative charm—his works have been collected by numerous enterprises, celebrities, galleries, art institutions, and collectors.
