Personal Profile
Zhao Huaigun, born in 1952, enlisted in 1972 and long worked in the publicity department of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, holding the military rank of Major General. I have loved literature and art since childhood. Before joining the army, I once farmed in the countryside and also operated a lathe in a factory. After enlisting, I once carried a rifle in a company and also wrote articles with a pen. No matter what job I did or how my roles changed, my original aspirations never wavered, and my interests remained undimmed. Over the years, I have visited many calligraphers and painters both inside and outside the military, constantly improving my skills under the guidance of these teachers. My calligraphy and painting works have been selected for exhibitions at the national military level. My photography has participated in numerous national photo exhibitions and won awards multiple times in national photography competitions. My work "Majestic Wind" won the Grand Prize in the first Nikon Grand Prix jointly organized by Xinhua News Agency, Japan, and Hong Kong. My articles, photographs, and artworks have been published over one thousand times in various newspapers and magazines such as the People's Daily, China Daily, China Youth Daily, PLA Daily, and PLA Illustrated Magazine. The TV documentary series I organized were presented as gifts by state leaders to foreign heads of state and dignitaries from multiple countries. Currently, I am a member of the Beijing Jinzhengde Art Academy and a member of the China Photographers Association, and hold positions in several other art academies and organizations.
