 Jiang Wentao, styled Wenming, pseudonym Master of Mo Yun Tang, is a renowned contemporary Chinese painter and calligrapher, leading figure in the field of Chinese painting with color ink, founder of Color Ink Giant Cicada art, national first-class fine artist, direct disciple of Qi Baishi, vice president of China National Academy of Painting, vice president of Beidou Art Association, secretary-general of China Oriental Painting Academy, painter of the Cultural Heritage Protection Department of the Ministry of Culture’s Art Association, and president of the Chinese Academy of Chan Studies.

currently resides in Beijing, vice chairman of the China Calligraphy and Painting World Travel Federation, council member of the China Calligraphy and Painting Artists Association, cultural ambassador for Sino-Korean exchanges, dean of Jinghua Fine Arts Academy, honorary visiting painter at Moscow Academy of Arts, head of the Artist Division of the China Talent Research Association, and art consultant of Beijing Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics Research Institute.
       Artistic journey: Since childhood, Jiang Wentao has studied calligraphy and painting. He successively attended the high-level study programs in landscape painting and bird-and-flower painting at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He was trained by Jin Shuyong, a famous Chinese painter and disciple of Professor Jin Shuyong from Tsinghua University, as well as by Gao Qinggui, a student of the renowned painter Gao Qinggui. He received personal instruction from distinguished artists such as Xue Yongnian, Wu Shanming, Guo Shifu, and Wang Tongren. He took Song Dynasty masterpieces as models and studied extensively from the works of famous painters across the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. He learned from nature while continuously drawing creative inspiration from real life. Influenced by Zhang Daqian’s splashed ink and color techniques, he absorbed the wisdom of ancient masters, taking the highest standards as his reference, creating works full of elegance and timeless charm. Through decades of diligent practice, he has developed a unique artistic style that has earned him recognition both at home and abroad. Known as the "King of Insects" and "China’s First Painter of Cicadas," Jiang Wentao pioneered the Color Ink Giant Cicada style, making a significant contribution to the inheritance and development of Chinese culture. He is honored as the Founder of Color Ink Giant Cicada Art.
       Jiang Wentao’s Color Ink Giant Cicadas and insects are vivid, lifelike, elegant yet vibrant, appealing to all tastes. His works radiate vitality and emotional depth, expressing the painter’s love for life and profound understanding of the natural world.        His individual biography has been published in the People’s Daily, Art Newspaper, and China Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper. His artworks are collected by the Great Hall of the People, the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the Moscow Academy of Arts, and the Académie des Beaux-Arts in France. His works have repeatedly won top awards in national and provincial art exhibitions, and are permanently housed in numerous art institutions and by renowned collectors.
