Hu Qihua  Owner of Youlanju  Born in October 1946  Anhui Wuhu native  Residing in Beijing  Currently: Member of the Calligraphy Association of Wuhu City, Anhui Province, Member of the Artists Association of Wuhu City, Anhui Province, Research Fellow at the Wuhu Art Research Institute. Hu Qihua has loved seal carving and painting since childhood, continuously practicing his craft. His works are grand and majestic, with heavy brushwork and innovative compositions. He is especially skilled in bird-and-flower painting and also excels in calligraphy and seal carving. His peonies are particularly distinctive. Hu Qihua skillfully blends ancient techniques with modern innovation in his brushwork, often incorporating spontaneous strokes into his freehand bird-and-flower paintings to create a wild and elegant visual effect. Each of his expressive ink works, rich and uninhibited, presents a unique world of Chinese ink art. In Wuhu, known as the Jiangcheng, he is called the “King of Peonies.” He has participated in numerous provincial and municipal exhibitions, and his works have been permanently collected by the Wang Jiaxiang Memorial Hall in Wuhu. He is also highly accomplished in ceramic art, frequently invited by renowned porcelain design studios in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi to create blue-and-white and famille-rose pieces. His blue-and-white work "Rhythm of Xin'an" won the Huigong Award at the 7th Anhui Provincial Craft Art Exposition. Many of his works are collected by film stars and collectors both at home and abroad.
